About Me
Hello! I am Olivia Duncan, I currently live in Flagstaff, Arizona. I attend Western Oregon University in their American Sign Language Interpreting Studies: Theory class! I began learning ASL in 2019 and graduated from Coconino Community College with a Certificate in American Sign Language and an Associates Degree in ASL and Interpreting Studies. I will graduate in June 2024 from WOU with my Bachelors Degree in Interpreting Studies: Theory where I plan to then begin the MA program. I have enjoyed learning about ASL, Deaf Culture, Linguistics, Ethics, Cultural Intelligence, Deaf History, and Interpreting Theory & Processes. I look forward to continue my education and gain experience as I continue into the field.
Executive Summary
Throughout my time in Interpreter Education Programs, I have had the opportunity to learn about American Sign Language, history, Deaf Culture, Ethics, the Demand Control Schema, Cultural Intelligence, Linguistics, and more. I have also had the opportunity to learn a lot about myself regarding my values and beliefs which has given me the ability to do lots of self reflection. I look forward to continuing my education and begin working in the field.
